So It Begins

Back in the mists of time, when the world was young and we spent our days splashing about in rivers and climbing trees, we had a Nintendo 64 with Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time, and Galadriel never did manage to complete it. Games like that just weren't for her.

Wind forwards nearly two decades, to 2017, and Galadriel has her own house and no games console or DVD player. She decides to kill two birds with one stone and, based on the excellent recommendations from Dara O'Briain's Go 8-bit, ordered herself a PlayStation 4. So far, so good. And then in the sale she spotted a game called Dragon Age: Inquisition, reduced by 95%, and thought "Wait, isn't that the one Ianto did after Torchwood? I should check it out."

So she bought it, and then left it untouched until November. And that's when everything went wrong (or right). She completed the game twice in quick succession, putting in over 100 hours a month for 3 months despite NaNoWriMo, work and university deadlines, and eventually convinced Checkerbeard to give the games a go as well. He started with Origins and began streaming his progress. Galadriel quickly joined in with Origins, and finished it and 2 before he'd finished Origins. She was there for all the highs, the lows, and the "I beg your fucking pardon?"s.

And now, a year on as we prepare to celebrate Checkerbeard's Dragon Age birthday, we decided we needed a blog. Where we can post our schedule, share photos of our progress and Checkerbeard's meme-like reactions, and blog about the important questions like "Are the Frostbacks and Vimmarks the same mountain range?", "What effect would two moons have on Thedas's tides?" and "Are the Dales in a rain shadow?"
